Jonnn21 is on a distinguished road

can I use JUST the subwoofer from a set in the S/PDIF

What I mean is this:

I have a subwoofer. This subwoofer has an RCA jack. This subwoofer comes from a 3 piece set. The Sub plugs into a sub jack on the speakers.

I have a onboard Soundmax with a S/PDIF port.
I have a soundblaster Live! with the LIve Drive! with a S/PDIF in and out.
I have a Creative Labs DXR3 card with a S/PDIF port as well.

How the heck can I get this subwoofer to work with my other two speakers.

PS. My Soundmax card can use the LIne in port as a subwoofer output. It must be able to control in and out. Any ideas? THis is an ASUS P5P800 board.

System Specs

use your onboard sound control panel to set the line in to sub/center

but i don't think you can use spdif for a single channel, it is stereo after all…

that RCA jack on your sub would be an analogue signal, connect a stereo jack to dual RCA cable to your soundcard of choice, and connect the red (right) RCA plug to the Subwoofer, that should work
