Speakers on a limited budget
Hello all,
I've been thinking of buying a new set of speakers, mostly for gaming, and I'm a complete newbie at this! I've been reading in the site, but most of the speakers that are mentioned are way too expensive for me! I have a USB Audigy 2 NX and I've narrowed the choices to: 7.1 Creative Inspire T7900 6.1 Logitech x-620 5.1 Creative Inspire T6060 Logitech X-530 2.1 Creative I-trigue 3400 Logitech Z-4 Logitech Z-3 So, what do you guys recommend?? Yes, I know they are all cheap and you get what you pay, but should I go for more speakers 7.1, or less and "better" like the Z-4?? Thanks a lot for any replys |

The first question, is can you be bothered placing the extra speakers of a full 7.1 (or even a 5.1).
It was a long time before I retired my old pair of Trust soundwave 20's (best speakers ever to come from Trust) - small boxes that could punch way above their weight. A cople of others came and went, such as a nice egg shaped pair that I quickly passed on to someone that wasn't as bothered by the rather miserable sound quality. My new set is a Tevion 5.1 NXT (was £24.99). After turning the bass to "kickass" levels, I then set it up on speech radio, for a comfortable sound at a bit below halfway. Actually, I'd rather have 4.1 (or even 2.1), as placing the centre is a pain. For games, anything with a sub (the ".1") can pack a good punch, but a well set up and supported surround system might give the "behind you" effect.

Ok, thanks for the reply! and also thanks for pointing the dificulties with a "Surround" system! Mostly I didn't wanted to buy a multi speaker set that gave worse sound then a 2.1 system!

I would say go for the logitech speakers, The Z-640's or the X-530's have came down in price so much and while they will not shale your house they will definatley shake you if your sitting playing a game or watching a movie..They have nice deep bass and crisp highs. I would say for the price grab the multi-channel setup.

Thanks for the reply! I really like the Logitech products, so I think that I'll grab myself a x-530 or a x-620 (don't have the option for the z-640). I'll also be upgrading with the PAX drivers! Maybe the new T6060 from creative won't be so bad, 'couse it will be 2 creative products... Whatever I can find!
