I posted this topic to several forums but no one responded. Maybe you can help. I am currently using an Audigy 2 ZS. I bought this card because I'm a gamer and play many EAX HD games. But i would like to buy a Prodigy 7.1 card for better quality and some other features. Since i don't want to change the cable's from one card to another is it possible to route somehow the audio from the ZS to the Prodigy by software? Or optical out? Or any other way that wouldn't degrade audio quality? Thanks in advance.

you'll only get stereo sound between cards with a single connection, no 5.1/7.1

Yes, I need at least 5.1 setup. Maybe it would be possible to route it with software?

unsure, but maybe, you'd need a software dsp layer though…
