Yes, that is the just released newest and probably last set for the SBLive. It hasn't been promoted much but if you scroll down to the end of the SBLive YouP-Pax thread both here and in the YouP-Pax forum you'll find the link to it.
I downloaded (better to use GetRight or similar as it serves up worse than dial-up speeds and needed 5 resumes and 2 days to get the whole file on a cable connection) and ran the installer to check the files out. I have a different card in at the moment but wanted to see what's in here. This is really nice. They use a modded version of the Audigy 2 ZS install cd's 402 driver. This was a good choice since it was the last Creative driver before they updated to EAX 3.0 and 4.0 HD stuff. The later drivers all had problems with the EAX stuff on the Live cards because the card simply isn't capable of EAX 3 and 4 so they would cause all sorts of bugs in games and when running the software's EAX EQ settings, etc. The 402's worked fine. You get the usual YouP-Pax choice of Music and Game/DVD Edit versions and the newer ability to switch between them with a start menu shortcut. They include the goodies from the Audugy 4 Pro and X-Fi software so you get the up to date GUI's and I'm assuming they all control the card's features fine as otherwise they wouldn't have included it. I think we still need to install the software first, reboot, then run the installer again and install the driver. You get a choice between either PlayCenter or MediaSource. I don't suggest installing both. Might as well install MediaSource as it does more and we now have EAX Console to turn CMSS on and off which used to be only available within PlayCenter on the Live. Did you buy your SB0220 in China? If not, then this package probably supports your card. So now folks with Live cards have lots of options. Creative's 252 version, the Compaq 253 version cd, the kXProject driver, older stuff (if you still have all the files and tricks to make the older stuff work properly on XP, as there were many hoops to jump through), and the super duper Creative modern day Crap!Ware enhanced YouP-Pax driver. I actually liked the Crap!Ware software in its assorted versions. It's the driver buggyness and bloat that got to me. The GUI's are all nice and mostly work fine in all Creative incarnations. But no other company's soundcards need all these driver files, processes, and registry bloat that Creative card's need. Funny enough, the 402 drivers actually have less problems on the Live cards than on the Audigy 2 ZS cards. It seems that Creative finally fixed some of the bugs that caused Windows XP dcom and process starting errors on the Audigy 2 ZS's with the latest released driver. However, they are really optimized for gaming now and sound like crap (except for the improved headphone and CMSS stuff) with music. You really need to output to ASIO to get music to sound good now. I was satisfied with Windows Media Player with the 443 drivers but now either Winamp with the ASIO plugin or Foobar2000 is a must. I'm speaking about the Audigy 2 ZS with the latest Creative release, not the Live.

gateway drivers are older. You might want used pax for sound blaster live drivers. What I was staying you can try the software out to see if they work on your live card.

I just posted all that so you'd get an idea of what the YouP-PAX new entry is.
Personally, when I use the SBLive 5.1 (been awhile now) I tried all sorts of updated driver and software hacks but was never satisfied with them. I usually wound up back with my full cd version of what Creative offers as the Live Uni-Pack in their download section. Few bugs except for EAX in newer games. Sounds great for music. Not as good flat as the old LiveWare period VXD drivers, but the Advanced Parametric EQ settings let you adjust it to sound just fine. All newer drivers sound weird (to me) for music. They work great for the Audigy 2 ZS, but make the SBLive have overwhelming bass and disapearing midrange. You did ask what the latest was. The latest complete software and driver combination is the YouP-PAX Live NewYear 2006. Of course you could go the route of following some of the guides here to use the Audigy 2 cd patched with ctcomp and use whatever driver you want. But I just think that between the software glitches you need to work around and the weird sounding drivers that you are better off either using kXProject drivers or the Live Uni-Pack. If you're brave, try that YouP-Pax Live NewYear 2006. Maybe they tweaked the 402 driver so it sounds right on the Live.

Hi @All,
i am still using the Audigy4Pro-YpoauxP.iso with my SB LIVE! 4.1 Platinum (Live!Drive II) and this Driver is installed "Creative, Date: 24.09.2004, Version: 5.12.2.445". Now i dont know, which new Driver is better for my good old SB LIVE! 4.1. Is it the New Year 2006 Package 1.22 or a other Package/Pack? Thnx! |

The software would be nearly the same as you've got now except for some of it coming from the newer X-Fi package replacing some of your Audigy 4 package software.
I'm not sure, but it's possible that when your package was installed you installed the drivers from that cd along with it. I don't know the version number that the Audigy 4 Pro cd has but if your's says 445 then that's a relatively new version that I don't think YouP-PAX has used for any of its Live drivers. You were supposed to just install the cd's software, reboot, then run the then latest SBLive YouP-PAX driver installer. I'm sort of surprised you haven't experienced problems with sound quality or software glitches when using some of the EAX features, as the later drivers generally break some EAX features when used with the SBLive. They're designed for cards that are capable of EAX 3 and 4 (HD), and the SBLive isn't capable of responding to those features. The newest Live NewYear 2006 or kXProject packages are the best choices for 3rd party. The best official package is still offered by Creative, but you'd probably be bored with it since you're used to the fancy, newer software design. Be prepared for trouble. Removing and changing Creative versions of things can be a harrowing experience. You may need to use DriverCleaner in SafeMode after uninstalling everything, then shut down and physically remove the card. Boot and reboot a few times with no soundcard, then install the card, reboot after XP installs its built in version, then install the package you want right over it. It's possible XP will let you cancel out of its hardware driver installation so you wouldn't need to be installing unsigned drivers over its built in, signed ones. That's ideal, but sometimes you don't get that choice. If the Creative package setup tells you you don't have any SB hardware installed, you may need to CTZAPP.EXE in the drivers you want first and reboot a couple of times before the software installer will work. Sometimes after uninstalling Creative, its software installers will lose the ability to properly identify that the card is there until its drivers (not Microsoft drivers) are installed by the CTZAPP.EXE program. Good luck.

Hi @All,
Thanks for the fast Answer. I do not have any Soundproblems with the Creative Driver and i know that this is not so typical. Music sounds great, i got all my EAX Effects and i can choose them in Games. All i did, is when i do a new Install, is that i use Drivecleaner and after that i just install manually the Driver from the Audigy4-YoupPax Iso. After trying all of the official Guides and Manuals, this is the Way how i can use the Software and a newer Driver. I really know that my Way is special and just to show, here are some facts: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 5/17/2006, 18:59:05 Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) System Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer INC. Well you've got a routine there that satisfies you. I suspect that any improvements would be doubtful at this point. These are really old cards now and being that you're happy the way you have things I wouldn't mess with it.
