Logitech or Klipsch?

I desperately need to get some new speakers - some unfortunate incidents conspired to damage my good old trusty HK 5XXs a few months ago after years of constant use, and I have a reasonably large budget for new speakers. My El Cheapo headphones are just insufficient... I am currently looking at the Logitech 560s, the Logitech 680s, the Klipsch Promedia 4.1s, and the Klipsch GMX-D 5.1s (HERE)... I would strongly prefer something with a digital decoder and an optical input so I can use the optical out on my PS2 with the speakers during parties and so on... I would probably be ordering online if they were the Klipsch, but the Logitechs are stocked at my local Best Buy and I have a few 10% off coupons, and the Logitechs are very often on sale at BB Any help would be appreciated!

ToshiroOC

EDIT: I'm a big fan of music with a lot of strong bass, so strong sub power (+100 watts at least) is a must Also, I have an Audigy 1 + Platinum Drive...

I don't have any experience with surround speakers
BUT, I can talk about quality of sound, right
I have Klipsch Promedia 2.1, and they sound

Bah, I didn't know how to finish that sentence, cuz I like them so much.
Especially with the Philips Acoustic Edge. (WTWolf knows about that part , even tho he has diff speakers)

You mentioned bass . . . well, this sub kicks like an irked ass. And the 4.1 and 5.1s' subs are all more powerful

OK, I'll cut to it. From my experience, and from all the reviews I've read . . . if you have the money, you can't go wrong with Klipsch.

Unfortunately, I dunno much about the Logitechs, I'll leave that for others with the experience.

I have the standard Klipsch 5.1's. Honestly I would say go with the 680's but don't get them from Best Buy. You can get them shipped via pricewatch for around $280. I would then use your coupons to get some nice cables to hook everything up with from Best Buy.

Well, I ended up ordering the Logitech Z-560's. Why, you ask? I was at Amazon.com and going through their nifty gold box thing... and the Z-560's came up for $115. Who can pass it up?! Thats significantly cheaper than all of the other prices online or in RL for a new set of Z560s... just so I wouldn't feel bad about :coughkazaacough: some things, I ordered about 7 music CD's too... some Rob Zombie and Iced Earth... This is going to be fun once they get it all shipped out to me (with their very very cool free saver shipping) Amazon.com r00ls!

Thumbs Up! cool

That's a good price, great luck, eh?
Yep Amazon does rule sometimes, I got my speakers there, too . . . not a Gold Box find tho, they were $160 total.
Best part was, I used points from my credit card to buy Amazon gift certificates, and got the whole shebang for free

Sadly tho, I wanted to get a vid card from them recently, was saving up more points and money, and when I was ready . . .
I checked their site yesterday, and the rascals added a terrible sentence to the page "Offered by Office Depot"
They don't accept gift certificates for stuff offered by 3rd parties

ah well

Ahh, one thing I forgot to say about the Klipsch . . .
The thing I like more than the bass is their use of horns The highs are so crisp and clear

If your are into the heavy bass then the Logitech may be for you. If you want the best sounding speakers then go for the Klipsch. I have heard their 4.1 and 2.1 and the audio quality was amazing. I have not heard them used for gaming but I'd suspect they would be a plesant surprise.
