i'm hoping someone here can help me with this annoying problem.
basicaly i have a installed sound card (not sure which, in the device manager i have 4 listed: audio codecs, legacy audio, media control, MPU-401 compatible MIDI device). when i first got my pc the sound was working perfectly, after about a month or so it became worthless (btw, this is a "best quality" pc series, i havent a clue as to what sound card i have because it doesnt say on it and it came with the pc), anyways...i've tried everything i could think of, but nothing seems to work, i've tried control penel>printers and other harware>add hardware, i've even tried the throubleshooter (which is about 90% of the time useless anyways), the error message's i recieve are these: (when i try to change the pc volume) "there are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware. This program will now close" (when i try to use sound recorder) "sound recorder cannot record or play back because a sound device is not installed. to install a sound device, go to control panel, click printers and other hardware, and then click Add Hardware." and the most annoying part of it all is that in the properties of the device manager it says "this device is working properly" any help would be appreciated

ok that means your sound card is not installed properly, as there is no mention of a soundcard under the multimedia section of the device manager
try running the driver installation program again that's what i had to do for my behringer FCA202

if you bought your machine as a prebuilt, you should have been given a driver disc along with it, that should have drivers for the devices built into the motherboard, including sound
