-pete- is on a distinguished road

Pissed 5.1 speaker tests not working on audigy 2 (optical)

hey guys, how are you all doing?

So I have bought an audigy 2 zs platiunum and I'm trying to get a 5.1 audio test working with my speakers (an LG 5.1 home cinema kit) using an optical lead from the front drive bay unit

I've installed all the applications from the CD and updated my driver to the newest x64 one. However when i run a speaker test I get either the front two speaker test tone and none of the rear speakers or the sound saying that its the rear speakers coming out my front speakers

Since my home cinema kit can decode DTS feeds I've made sure that I have selected the "SPDIF Passthrough only" on the audio console (although it doesn't matter if thats selected or not) I've selected 5.1 sepeakers in the control panel and I've tested 3 DVDs (2 DTS and the THX optimiser from star wars) none of them pump audio to the rear speakers.

Anyone know whats up?

Do you have audio console installed? you might have go that route? Did you used driver cleaner first? make sure you installed software first before installing driver?

the optical output is pure stereo SPDIF

you will not get 5.1 sound UNLESS you are playing back a pre-encoded source (such as a DVD file or .AC3 audio file)
