Mic not working /w 6 channel

Hey, I have a via on board sound card for my abit mother board and when I try to use 6 channel sound for better sound quality in games my microphone shuts off and I can't use it anywhere. Does anyone know if there is a way to use 6 channel and my mic? I use a headset if that helps. And 6 channel works, but I can't use mic...

if you want both 6 channel sound AND the microphone, it sounds like you'll need to purcahse the sound expansion addon for your motherboard

Alright thanks.. Are those expensive? I have 5 sound jacks in the back and when I change it to 6 channel it changes the top 3 then there are 2 still left, is that anything?
