Creative Audigy 1 and ASIO

Hi Guys,

I have Creative Audigy 1 Gamer sound card.
I can't use ASIO as output in foobar2000 v0.8.3 . I've selected device as Creative ASIO in ASIO settings and i've set resampler to 48000Hz (this was suggested in some other old threads i've seen).

The exact error i'm getting is

Quote:
Watchtower.mp3" (0)
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : open : 44100 Hz, LINEAR PCM, 24 bits, 2 channels
ERROR (foo_output_asio(dll)) : unsupported sample rate.
INFO (CORE) : opening file for playback :
INFO (CORE) : location: "file://H:\mp3\100 Mejores solos de guitarra www.eliteXeem.com\005 - Jimi Hendrix Experience - All Along The Watchtower.mp3" (0)
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : open : 48000 Hz, LINEAR PCM, 24 bits, 2 channels
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : ASIO device type [channel 0] : Int16LSB
INFO (foo_output_asio(dll)) : ASIO device type [channel 1] : Int16LSB
ERROR (foo_output_asio(dll)) : unsupported output data format.
So guys any ideas on how can i fix this?
By the way My OS is WindowsXP sp2 and i'm using You-Pax modded drivers w/ Audigy 4 software. I've also tried with creative's orignal drivers but i get the same error.

Regards

LINEAR PCM 24-bits is not supported by Creative ASIO w/ your card (is the file you're playing, 24-bit?).

Is the Output data format set to 16-bit fixed point (Foobar Playback preferences)?

You can try w/ Asio4All.

Thanx man set the o/p to 16 bit and probs fixed

Actually silly me, my defualt setting was 24 bit, but i also had tried setting them to 16bit but that time i didn't turned on the resampler, so moved it back to 24bit.
Browsed the net and found resampler needs to be turned on, but didn't realised i also need to set it to 16 Bit

Well anyways, thanx once again

By the way, was reading more about ASIO and at someplace it was mentioned ASIO and Kernel Streaming are more or less the same thing........Can anyone tell me if its true ?

I think the only common factor these drivers are sharing is : both bypasses the windows kmixer. Asio4All, which one I mentioned as an alternative before, uses WDM/KS functions to operate (so it's sort of 'wrapper') --> it also bypasses kmixer and is therefore a good choice for some cards w/o native ASIO support (even for some cards w/ native ASIO support).

I'm not very good w/ this, to me foreign language, so I'm not starting to try to explain more. There are not good sources (technical information) for ASIO available but MS support has plenty of documents for WDM/KS.

If you're interested, you'll see the main differences by using some software like sequencers, w/ both drivers.
