Well i do not know about the other Mobos but ASUS released a new bios for their A8N32 sollutions that gives better compatibility for a number of hardware and that goes also for the X-FI which is a PCI sollution

ASUS A8N32-SLI DELUXE BIOS 1205 (2006\05\16)

- Enhanced PCI & PCI Express compatibility (These may fix\improve the X-FI cracking\Popping Issues for the systems that have these problem)
- Support for 7900 series (Strange It is already supported with previous Bios i do not know what ASUS means)
- Enhance SATA RAID compatibility

Download

Most likely they set the default latencies to a higher number. On most systems the default latencies are set to 32 in the bios. Some more recent ones have it set to 64 instead (I noticed this on a few ATI boards, including the Intel D101GGC/D102GGC boards).

Most likely they've now included the 7950 in the list, but they still maintain the "7900 series" listing.

O well
Anyway i have installed these new Bios and runs great

No problems with X-Fi Popping Issues etc
not that i was having any serious sound issues before

i have my memories in Dual Mode also

X-FI is great, way better from using a onboard sound card

I just read somewhere that the A8N32 had some serious issues with certain 7900 graphic cards from certain brands

and yes they probably added support for the 7950
The new Albatron 7950 GX2 is beeing supported only by A8N32-SLI sollutions for working as Quad SLI for now

See? they don't say ALC850.. WTH why not? I don't see why they leave it out.

the ALC850 chipset is exclusive to some motherboards... not sure how it all work though...

They're supposed to work. Their drivers have been supporting that chip since version 3.50.

If memory serves the ALC850 chips device ID was something like 10DE, but specifically the 850 chip would also have 00EA in that list (it would look like 10DE&DEV_00EA). If I'm right about that number then it is supported by this driver (cuz it's listed in the inf).

Yeah I see the 850 listed in the read-me- that's why I wonder why it is not listed as supported.. It's the like the red headed step child of the ALC chip..

Once again Creative is full of bull. They're saying one shouldn't have all four DIMMS slots full of memory when running 32bit WindowsXP.

Well I do have all four DIMM slots full, each one has a Crucial 1GB PC3200 DIMM in it, and I'm running 32bit WindowsXP, with a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music card on my ASUS A8R-MVP motherboard with Bios 503 without any problems. Yes, I know WindowsXP won't see the full amount, until I go 64bit WindowsXP.

What I don't like about Creative's cards is that everyone I've had at the time they get close to 6months old they start having weird problems. If I have problems at around to 6months old with my X-Fi card, I'm definitely gonna bail on Creative, and use the onboard sound on my motherboard until I can find me a decent non Creative Labs PCI soundcard.
