Earphones problem

Hi everybody!
I've got a problem with my Sony earphones. One of them doesn't produce a sound. I've been wondering whether something is wrong with the earphones or a sound card? Could anybody give me advice?

System Specs

test your earbuds with another source, but if it's what i think it is, one of the wires has been broken in the cable…

Yea this is a common problem with headphones. If you pull on the wires too much, one of the headphones will stop working. Happens to me all the time and i'm sure it happens to a lot of people. It's actually starting to happen with these really nice noise-cancelling headphones i got. I have to bend the cable a certain way in order to get one side of the headphones to work.
