Audigy/SPDIF/5.1 channel audio?

Hey guys, I'm trying to get my audigy to do 5.1 channel output via the optical SPDIF output to my new Logitech Z-680 speakers. I have chosen the 5.1 setup in the speaker settings and all effect modes on my Z-680's and when I do a speaker test, I cannot for the life of me get it to seperate the channels. This is pretty damn gay. I've tried with with both the Audigy 1 and Audigy 2 drivers and software. Do the kx audio drivers make this work by chance?

On another note, how can Epic print Dolby Digital on Unreal Tournament 2003's box and not output a Dolby Digital signal? Pretty gay as well.
