steviebird is on a distinguished road

No sound on my Vaio

recently made a new clean installation of Windows XP Professional on my Sony VGN-FS485B G4.
I replaced the Windows XP Home which was in German, that came pre installed with the laptop.

Now there is no sound and the the laptop tells me there is no sound device installed. I have installed the original Realtek sound driver from the Sony website. But still no sound.

Can anyone please help me to fix this problem?

Thank you,

Stevie B

System Specs

check your control panel

under sound and audio devices - are there any devices listed that match your soundcard? and are there any errors?

if nothing there matches your card, check under "unknown devices"
