audigy 1 platinum vs audigy 2
how do they compare in performance and/or features? one is currently being sold and i'm interested, but if the performance is negligable, then i'll have to let it slide. Randomletters said it's two times better, but i dunno.

well unless you really need the extra I/O on the audigy drive, i recommend the Audigy 2 - you'll get more updated drivers, better 24/96 support

oh and if you're just thinking of upgrading, for that price it's probably worth it

the audio quality difference is negligible, apart from 24/96 content, which if played through unaffected actually does sound a little better

however the real improvement is probably the software base

so the improvment on the card is worth it then? improvment on audio quality and less CPU usage are my two most main concerns. and you said that audio is negligable.

and what is 24/96 content?

lol...and i don't need the I/O of the platinum, but it's nice to have. i lost the cover for the drive bay, and the I/O panel is the only thing keeping it nice looking . i have it installed but it's not hooked up

there mod drivers where you can mod audigy 2 to audigy 4 or audigy 2 zs either or your choice and you get better software like audigy 4 pro software also plus audigy 2 better because got more voices support and EAX support more then audigy1 that you have. I did have audigy 1 sound card I never looking back to it again Plus with audigy 2 you get more bass too. If you want more info for pax head here http://bbs.youp-pax.org/ lots of info there.
