Audigy 2 ZS or Fortissimo III
Hi ppl I have and audigy 2 Zs..latest drivers of youpax is the fortissimo III 7.1 any better?
will the fortissimo work on a amd k6-2 500 128ram?
is 20eur too much for this card (fortissimo)..it has returned of rma..

With that machine, the fortissimo III will produce the lowest cpu consumption and the lowest memory footprint (use less virtual ram and memory)...

it is for my amd k6-2 and it is mostly for listening ot music and soem ut99/old doom
of course i'll never buy an audigy for that proc..my audigy 2 zs here cost me about 35eur...but I love it...
the config is:

is there any modded drivers for the fortissimo III?

I think I'll go for the logitech what do you think?
edit:I can have a live! 4.1 for less...but the fortissimo III is better right?and I want to experience anything out o f creative world...

The fortissimo 3 is way better and perfect for the games. Ut99 really works great with that card to, trust me, get the fort 3

Yeah the Fort III is great for music.. and videos games etc.
Get any decent speakers and you'll be amazed at the sound.

I have had the same pretty inexpensive creative T 5400 5.1 speakers for a few years and they sound very nice with the Fort III. I am seriously impressed with them still. I have a full entertainment center in the living room.. but for in here (my PC room) these are perfect.

Nope.. no modded drivers AFAIK. The drivers are very straightforward and work pretty much flawlessly though.

That's the problem.. I think as soon as you want to go X64 or Vista you are screwed with the Fort III.. I haven't tried, but I think it doesn't work and for legal reasons they can't or wont make any updated drivers.

the fort 3 is probably the best card you could possibly every want, the drivers have always been pretty much perfect.

However someone recently got an email from hercules saying they were attempting to "create" a vista/x64 ready and supported driver for the 3 series of the cards (fortissimo 3/game theater xp/digifire)

But nothing REALLY official thus far on the website.

IMO, stay away from creative and turtle beach on that older machine.

the fortissimo shines audio quality wise and much lower cpu usage then the awe32 from my experience...

the fortissimo shines most with surround sound modes.

other thing..games like quake1 and doom (i think) have optimizations for my awe32..will I loose them swapping the awe32 for the fortissimo?

The Fortissimo does quite excellent at running older games with the extra effects..

the only way to tell is to try it really.

Although Quake 1 and doom with my fortissimo using an updated engine, produces much better enviromental sounds anyways

what engine do you use? I use in that system I think I use glquake 1.07..I must try 1.09 again

No no, don't touch those engines lol.

if you want a specific link to download and import the files needed..

do this:

Click download and then download the file listed as [COLOR=#0000ff]DarkPlaces engine Windows/Linux OpenGL build 20060725[/COLOR]

read the readme... hopefully you have no issues.

blows the doors off any other engine aviable, even will run Quake 3 maps and the game better then the orginal quake 3 engine lol.

the recently bought fortissimo III..one strange thing if I play mp3 with the hercules media station II it is much louder than winamp....
where can I get the latest version of hercules media station?

www.hercules.com is your best bet.

but imo, i usually recommend only installing the latest drivers, and none of the extras on the cd ( i don't install from CD... just download the latest from the above site)

by default, Winamp is setup with a volume output of 70%, you may want to adjust the slider there..

and yes... hercules cards sound damn good.

well this mediastation uses much more cpu than winamp so I believe it has some kidn of optimization...and winamp@max is much much lower than this media station @max
