AUDIGY1 with .324 drivers, EAX and multispeaker trouble

I need to enable CMSS 3D2 to get music working on all four speakers (4.1 selected)
now I have disabled eax effects, however after I reboot reverb is set to maximum,
I created a new profile called default but now and again it resets back to full reverb.

what could I be doing wrong?

if I switch off CMSS I get 3d sound but not 4 channels of normal sound.

Are you saving your settings before you exit?

try using the "restore defaults" feature in the creative folder in the start menu. Get back to all original settings then try...
