Professional DAS With X-FI Chip
Has anybody heard any news on Creative releasing the EMU digital audio systems with the X-FI chip? There was information hyping up the X-FI chip before the consumer level soundcards were released. Where in the heck are the pro level soundcards with the X-FI chip?
If anyone knows of any information released, please post links? That is, do you know of any info besides this: http://www.creative.com/heartobelieve/ ? Thanks in advance.

hmmm i wonder if the yactually will make a pro card with ti X-Fi chip, 'cause all though the chip has a large amount of resources that are used for useless processes in the x-fi, it's still only running at 48khz iirc

70% of the power of the X_fi chip is used for SRC (Sample, Rate, Conversion) I seriously doubt you will see any pro level cards using this DSP...

This card is not BAD, but it's not GOOD either.
I had A2 before this X-Fi plat, and I don't think it's a HUGE jump into new world. CMSS has improved (and holy CMSS 3D Headphone), but drivers and support are useless as always. Same-old-cl-****

another reason I decided to jump the Creative ship. I will keep my CL cards for DSP effects on my electric guitar. My main audio card shall be the Auzentech X-Meridian. There's a nice piece of audio technology.

LOL A lot of old faces in here (to sort of speak) and all are/were cool guys.
Hi everybody.![]() Anyway, I was sure I read that it was planned for Creative to release a Pro line of soundcards using the X-Fi chip. This was sometime before the cunsummer X-FI soundcards were released. I was looking forward to seeing the features of such a soundcard. Oh well, if they're not gonna do that, that's bad news.

Given the implementation of the X-fi chip on the card we see know and the fact the chip still resamples AND that 70% of this cards DSP power goes right to SRC I don't really think I would want a card based on this chip. They can do better... Of course that's just my opinion. -BTW Paradigm shift -whatever doesn't mean we have to accept substandard crap cards... The shift has been a long time coming and doesn't have much to do with Creative.

@ Classic Leon
VERY Nice to see you too bud! Hope to be back here at DriverHeaven on a regular basis soon. Yes, I'm still using SONAR, and when I return on a regular basis, I'll have a new avatar and signature pic that's SONAR based. hehe! BTW that's a nice new avatar you have. It reminds me of CounterStrike LOL! See you bud. @ROBSCIX Well, I was hoping for their next generation of DAS from EMU, that's all.

@Thomas, You may be right it is possibe that EMU has a chip that is based on the X-fi DSP. I think it's kinda the opposite with them though meaning EMU is the one that usually comes up with the stuff and Creative uses it for gaming cards. Take the 10KX DSP for example? Why can't we just get a DSP that doesn't have and"but's" in it? meaning it's a good card BUT it resamples. IT does digital BUT not in surround...you see what I mean? a good card with no "but's"... I am done with Creative labs cards I am gonna use my audigy 2 for real time effects on a channel insert for my external mixer other than that I am gonna check out the X-Meridian... I think that card is gonna be awsome.
