Audigy 2ZS Notebook
Howdy folks.
I recently bought the Audigy 2ZS Notebook and thought that i can improve the sound quality by changing drivers and settings from original creative to independent alternatives kx or you-pax. I focus only on the audio playback (CDs,DVDs,MP3) and have external amp plugged to the card. I tried: Creative: Sound quality a little bit worse then I expected thus switch to you-paxx You-pax better, richer sound but awful high tones with kind of a static sounds thus kx Kx – lost in the settings, bad playback no ASIO 24 support Therefore, I have couple of questions: 1) kx project drivers faq states that there is only a partial support of my card. Is it true? May I experience any problems and therefore is it worth to change the drivers? 2) does kx support ASIO 24/96 as it wasn't clear in the info I found, and I could not set it up in foobar after installing kx 3) is the 30% percent CPU consumption under foobar 24 bit playback normal? (Centrino 1.74) It is the same for kx you-pax and standard creative drivers. 4) Any other suggestions reference to other articles ect. ... Should I change Creative drivers at all? The problem is that most of the docs in the internet are about the normal Audigy not the notebook version. Thanks in advance Marty |

1) iirc some of the inputs don't fully work in kX
2) kX does not support ASIOin 24/96, but will support 24/96 playback in WDM 3) that 30% CPU usage is obviously independent of the soundcard, so it's the application 4) kX: read some of the articles in the kX forum, as for youpax, there are several threads in this forum that may help
