Cubase Recording Problem - Very Basic
Hello,
I am new to these forums, but I got here while searching the net looking for a similar problem. I found this thread: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/general-discussion/84542-problem-when-recording-cubase.html which describes the EXACT problem I am having now. I am just trying to record simple digital audio with Cubase VST. No Midi or anything. Basically I record my first instument on 1st track (channel one), and when I proceed to record the second instrument on 2nd track (channel two), I get a copy of the first track on that one too, mixed with the second instrument. Obviously I just want the second instrument on the second track by itself. On that old thread, it was suggested to "mute the wave slider" during recording, but if I do so, I'm not able to listen (monitor) what was previously recorded on the first track, and it becomes impossible to know how to record the second instrument. I know, it is probably the dumbest problem you guys ever saw and most likely it is very simple to fix it, but I really don't know much and - reading the manual - it seems like I am not doing anything wrong. Please help... any help is highly appreaciated. Thanks! |

Are you using native ASIO, Asio4All or ASIO multimedia/directx drivers (I suppose you're using either ASIO Multimedia or ASIO Directx because of the Wave volume slider has affect. If so, try rather the Asio4All driver)? If ASIO, then you should not have this problem if you have selected proper input channel --> you set the Input port inside the recording software (not in windows mixer or or your soundcards mixer software) --> ASIO Line-In, ASIO S/PDIF In, etc. (if you're using SB card like Audigy 2/4 etc., don't select the Mix L/R as input source but use AnalogMix(), Microphone or S/PDIF L/R, etc.) If the other mentioned ASIO drivers then, --> do not use "What U Hear" as input (recording) source (this is set in mixer software (windows or your soundcards mixer software) but use AnalogMix(), Line-In, S/PDIF, Microphone, etc. jiitee |
