Bose Wave Music Sysytem

anyone out there with opinions of this $500 piece of kit? my mom wants one for christmas and i would like to be able to hear it before purchasing it but the nearest retailer i can find is a bose store about an hour away. so im lookin online. anyone have one or heard one? is worth the 500 price tag? any links or opinions are appreciatted

Not having heard it in person, and not being a fan of Bose in general... $500 seems extremely expensive for a pair of 2.5" drivers and a fancy radio.

Looking at radio dealies, Cambridge Soundworks has some cheaper models which include subwoofers.

If your mother is interested in speakers, and not a fancy radio (probably not, but I don't know much about radio/speaker combos, and can give better advice about real speakers) $500 gets you nice pair of speakers and a good stereo reciever, which will blow any radio away in terms of sound quality, but which obviously won't function very well as an actual radio.
