Help with ATI Radeon x1650 Pro 512MB (AGP)

Hey Guys, I just got my card yesterday and after installing everything, I boot up my comp and all these red and blue lines started appearing. I can't see anything else. I have the latest Catalyst drivers and bios for my mobo. I'm sure that I have a 4x agp line which should support this card and 400 WATT PSU. Please help!!

What card did you upgrade from?
What steps did you take when swapping cards?

I was upgrading from radeon 9600 PRo 128MB

1)power down computer
2)slowly eject 9600 from the AGP slot
3) Connect the power cable to the AGP card
4) insert the new x1650 into the AGP slot (making sure that all parts of the card are in contact with the AGP slot)
5) connect the power cable back to the PSU connector
6) Power on

BAM! lol..

You didn't uninstall the drivers for your 9600 before swapping cards?

nope because

1) x1650 and 9600 basically use the same drivers
2) the graphic card messed up before mobo finished booting up bios so it can't be the drivers when windows hasn't even loaded

Well man,
I hate to be the one to break it to you but you need to do a little more reading on swapping hardware before you just do it. Seeing how this post would be a book if I explained everything about how drivers and the interaction with your mobo and hardware at boot worked that I will not even try.
Just google driver installation and search these forums and I am sure you will figure it out.

uhmm... do you think by any chance it maybe dead on arrival?

Are you suggesting me to delete ALL video drivers and then install?

I'm suggesting that because you are new to swapping hardware and uninstalling and installing drivers that you should spend some time researching the subject. If you didn't uninstall the old drivers before removing your 9600 then..........

here's a funny thing though..

my friend who used a 9250 doesn't know much about driver issues... went ahead and bought a x1600 PRO 256MB and just shoved it into his AGP slot and turned it on... It worked for him.. but why not me?

*Shrugs*... Well, I can understand if I could get my bios booted up and then it failed... but what I can't understand is how can it not be able to show my INTEL logo before the weird stuff appeared? Before drivers are loaded, how can it already have problems? You do understand that drivers is a software thing right? It's loaded when windows is booted up.. but my display is messed way before that.

The problem is that I do understand.
Your OS and BIOS are interacting way before you see the welcome screen of your OS booting. Just do some reading on how to install a new card.
I am not trying to be mean, but you have to start somewhere.
