HT Omega CLARO 7.1-Channel Sound Card

I had an X-Fi Xtreme music. I had to RMA it because of the SCP (snap crackle pop) and freeze skreech issues in XP. I have upgraded to Vista Ultimate. They sent my a X-FI extreme gamer to replace the Xtreme music card. I guess they stopped making the card alltogether.

Well I am still having crashing issues using the X-FI. IRQ errors I think. The new Creative drivers come out in March 7-8, 2007. Or so they are saying.

Anyways, I have been looking for a card. I have had it with Creative. I just want to give my money to a company that cares about their customer support enough to drop a new driver every now and then. The HT Omega CLARO 7.1-Channel Sound Card looks great on paper, and the review sites are praising it. It's like $139.99 at Newegg! I am thinking about getting this or the X-Meridian. Anyone have the HT Omega CLARO 7.1-Channel Sound Card? Is it stable?

Here's a review I found.

I have Oxygen HD based card the Razer AC1, I not having any problems with it. I using beta drivers for vista X64,I know HTomega and X-merdian cards has vista drivers.

Either way both are good cards and I know people with X merdian that loved it. I would go with the HT omega if you cant afford the X-merdian.

I like the Omega - It would be my first choice for a very high end card.

But it is VERY spendy.

There is the Turtle Beach Montego DDL at Amazon for like $55:

Amazon.com: TURTLE BEACH TBS-3300-01 Montego DDL Sound Card: Electronics

Here's the product page:

Turtle Beach - Montego DDL 7.1 Sound Card In Detail

Specs look good - only seems to lack a Coax connector. Might be worth a look.

Whatever you do end up getting, please do a follow up thread so we can learn how awesome other cards can be.

Best of luck, and enjoy.

The HTOMEGA Claro 7.1 is a CMEDIA Oxgen 8788HD based soundcard. I'm thinking about getting this card myself, or the Bluegears b-Enspirer.

I installed the Beta Driver but it will not work, getting an error message saying these drivers are not digitally signed by Microsoft. Is there any way around this?

You have to turn off UAC and driver signing. otherwise it will not install.

So I installed the HT Omega Claro x64 Beta Driver but I get an error message in the device manager.

It says:

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

How can I solve this?

i turned off UAC in the controll panel in users. then i disable driver singing at boot up at the F8 screen.

I think the UAC is stopped it from installing. I got that error once. But I dont remember from what.
