??? devLdr32.exe + Soundblaster Problems

For some weeks now I have been having problems with a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum eX sound card purchased new in 2002 and installed in a Dell 8200. One issue, after I upgraded to the A09 DELL BIOS, I have been unable to re-install the software for my card off the manufacturer's compact disc. Other issues: my drivers refuse to re-install on a cold boot, the sound gets grainy and echoey, and I no longer have access to my applets for controling my remote, my audio console, and so forth, and so on.

Truth is, if I want to hear anything at all I have to install a driver pack from way back in 2004 - AUDDRVPACK_L11, size 12.6 MB. By chance, desperate, I went to "Manage Active Programs" in my copy of System Mechanic. Here I found a red ink message telling me:
"devLdr32.exe is a component of several viruses and not an authentic Creative file."

So what is: "devLdr32.exe"? How do I get rid of it? If it is a virus why won't any antivirus package I have tried remove it for me? Is anybody out there? Is this Creative's way of getting me to trash my audigy and buy an X Fi?

If it is in WIndows\System32 then it is legit, if it is anywhere else then it can be a virus.
