Recommend a Vista 64 sound card? (No X-FI)

First I have Vista Ultimate 64. Yeah, I do. Don't laugh.

I have been here before and I really want to get a soundcard. I have been through 2 Creative X-FI's (Xtreme Gamer & Xtreme Music) and both were Xtreme pieces of crap on both XP and Vista. The latest drivers suck as bad as the last betas. I am using onboard now but because of lack of Vista support I am only getting 2.1 sound out of it, but at least I am not freezing or getting SNP anymore. (A8R-MVP Asus board, no control panel driver yet)

I have about $200 for a sound card. I have been looking at the X-Meridian (Drivers out for X86 not X64.) Also I have been eyeing the Bluegears b-Enspirer and the HT Omega CLARO. Neither of which seem to have driver support for Vista 64.

Now, I know you guys will point and say "hahaha shouldn't have updated to Vista." I know. But I did. And so far, I like Vista besides this prob. I just want to get a card that works on Vista 64. Nothing super fancy, just works well. I produce music, play games, do graphic design etc.

Any suggestions?

Did you try the actual final release of the xfi drivers for vista? I am not talking about the beta drivers.
If you also have problems with the xfi under XP then perhaps the problem is not with the soundcards but with something else on your system. I have no problems under xp with the xfi for over a year now.

Yes I tried the March 7th drivers. I know alot of people having many Snap crackle pop, freeze issues with X-FI. I just can't use their card. Since I took that card out a few days ago, my machine has been stable. The only reason I didn't ditch it months ago was anticipation for the actual final build of the driver. I reformated, installed the driver and within 2 hours my PC acted like it got AIDS. I need another brand of card. I have been having issues with this card for over a year.

I found out from HT OMEGA, that they will have the 64bit non beta drivers for the Claro next month.

Soooo, um. Man this sucks. I got everything I need but a good soundcard. I have been burned by Creative twice. Their forums look like a lynch mob is forming, so I am not the only one.

So I think I will get the Claro or the Meridian. Still not sure. I am nervous really.

I got a new 22" wide screen today though. At least that's cool.

I did some digging through the 32bit Vista drivers that HT OMEGA posted on their site, after downloading them and discovered the 64bit drivers already in the 32bit driver package.

I haven't been brave enough to reinstall Vista 64 yet, and try installing those drivers, because of the mess that has hit with EA not support 64bit OSES with C&C 3.
