Simultaneous Recordings

Hi to everyone,
I use Cooledit Pro and Microsoft’s Media Encoder. Under Windows XP it was possible to make both programs to use for input the same card at the same time. This fails under Windows 2000. Is this a feature of Win XP or I am doing something wrong?
