S/PDIF in
I know this has been talked about a lot but no-one has yet covered the point specifically, so here goes.
I have a guitar preamp (Yamaha AG Stomp) with a coax S/PDIF output. The line level outputs work fine on my Audigy 2ZS but i'd like to go fully digital if I can. I connected the output from the preamp to the CD S/PDIF input and it worked, but quietly. However, my sequencer software (Reaper) won't recognise this connection as an input so I can't use it. So I linked up the peamp to pins 5 and 6 on the AUD_EXT header and linked pins 25 and 35 to fake a LiveDrive. But nothing comes through. All the connections are good (tested with a meter) and the software and Audigy control panel all set to S/PDIF input. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks in anticipation for your help. |

ok well the reason it doesn't work is most probably because the AUD_EXT does not support standard SPDIF operating levels, on the CD_SPDIF header does
your software WILL be able to recognise this input if you select it as the record source in the creative mixer

Thanks - will try again.
Incidentally, can the standard S/PDIF signal be converted to match the AUD_EXT requirements? I've seen converters from S/PDIF to TTL - would this be it? |

yeah that will work, as the AUD_EXT header requires TTL level
