Pinout of X-Fi AD-Link 26 pin connector?
Hi all, just wondered if anyone knew the pinout for the 26 pin connector on the back of the X-fi series of cards, i managed to get an elite pro board cheaply but it didnt come with the audio console, but i have an X-fi drive bay, feel quite willing to have a go at creating a cable to connect the two but need a pinout, can anyone give advise on this? cheers

no, the pinout there is the internal AD_EXT header
i haven't seen any for the AD_LINK on the rear of the card - the only reason we have the AD_EXT is that several members of this forum managed to discover it for themselves, comparing tracing/pinouts between audigy 1 and 2 cards

the internal connector is something like 40 pins - so there's no way they'd match up… but if you have both the internal and external connections, you *could* try to trace map them

Good advice there, thanks, i happen 2 have an extreme music card that doesnt work and that has both connectors, when i have some freetime i will see if i can trace as many of the pins as poss, will post diagram if im succesful, its a pain the elite doesnt have it but i guess creative expected it 2 always be sold with the console, guess that extra xilink chip doesnt help either! Got the card as faulty but it works fine, so im happy enough, bought a platinum 2 sell on 4 a profit and realised how much i like the bay lol!

Incidentally the pic from newegg is NOT the elite, looks like a stock fatal1ty pic the elite has extra components where the 40 pin connector is, the only option on the card is the connector on the backplate, also while im thinking, does any1 know why the elite has relays for changing modes? The card itself clicks when changing or at least it used to, now it changes silently like the other x-fi cards!? Sorry about double posting, my phone wont allow me to edit what ive already typed!
Update: Have looked at the elite music card and i think tracing it is going to be beyond me, i cant tell where half the traces start or end and which pin they relate to so i guess i will have to just wait until maybe one day someone else does the work for me! ah well, goodbye lovely drive bay!
