Intermittent Sound Breakup

Since installing Creative Audigy Value sound card I have had intermittent audio breakup,this only happens in Vista and not XP. The driver came with the Vista RTM installation software, I tried installing a later one but it would not work. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Is there a third party driver I can try?
