Linux drivers...
... for not supported audio cards. I know, this should go in the linux forum, but nevertheless:
Most audio cards feature some sort of compatibility mode with the Sounblaster, that goes all the way down to "Soundblaster registers" in the (non-Creative) audio IC. Much like most (all?) video cards have a VGA compatibility mode, so they work on the basic level (VGA) even if they are not supported, and most of their specific features aren't available. I have this feeling that this should work with audio cards too, that is it would be possible to tweak a driver to support a non-supported card. Anybody tried something like this?
