Default Post Trash the Audigy?

I love my Audigy, but I've heard too many people on multiple forums speakings of the wonders they found in Santa Cruz and Acoustic Edge after upgrading from the Audigy Gamer. I found this hard to believe, but now, I'm beginning to think that so many people can't possibly be wrong. Is there really THAT big an advantage that those cards have that I should go and spend my money on a new card even though I love the card I have now (I'm broke, I'm 15, I'm jobless, my father definitely won't buy anything, I love audio)?

Also, for those that upgraded from the Audigy Gamer, please let me know of the advantages or nice things you have found and also about the things that you didn't like about the Audigy so that I can make a good decision on whether it is worth it to upgrade. Also, let me know what kind of speakers/headphones you used with the cards.

Find some friends with one or try one at a store, so you can hear the difference. Worse comes to worse, buy one, try it, and if you don't like it return it to the store because you didn't like the fact it didn't support Solaris 9 (bad excuses really do work though). If you happen to buy a Philip's card, make sure you get one with a Thunderbird Avenger DSP. They still sell the Thunderbird 128's at Staples and some other stores, so you could buy one that isn't quite as good as it should be.

I've never been to a store that lets me actually compare soundcards by listening to them. Where do you go to sample soundcards? I haven't seen anything like it at frys. Do comp usa or microcenter have this? (i never go to those two cuz i like frys)

Honestly man, if you don't have any problems with your card and are happy with it. Why even think about upgrading? I find the layout of the Santra Cruz's controls easier to access, and understand. For me the S.C. has a more natural analog sound to it compared to the Audigy. I've used a 5.1 home theater setup on the Audigy, then moved to Klipsch. I've only used my 5.1's on the S.C. For headphones my Gamevoice Cheapo's, cheap pair of Koss, and my babies (Sennheiser's). It really comes down to a matter of personal opinion. Like comparing a Chevy and a Ford. The highlights of the S.C. are better driver support, and compatibility.

It was just a suggestion. Now that I think about it, I've never seen it either, but it couldn't hurt to ask. It only takes a few minutes to ry out a few sound cards anyway.

If you like your Audigy, then there shouldn't really be a problem. Most people have problems with it and you don't, so you should be ecstatic.

Ok guys, thanx. I'll keep my Audigy, but I can't help overlooking the fact that the Sensaura cards have better headphone support (and better 5.1 simulation) and that I use headphones as my primary speakers... I'll just wait till something even better comes out (dmx 6fire is way too expensive)
