Toslink help
Hi Guys
I want to use the toslink opto out on my laptop to drive a stereo amp. I can send digital or analogue to this output, but I need an adaptor to give me line out. I have been using the headphone output, but it is crap. Is there anything available off the shelf? TN |

is the output standard toslink, or mini-jack?
if mini-jack, just plug in a cable, and set the drivers to output analogue

It's mini jack, but I need the output from this to connect to RCA connectors on my amps line in. I don't have an optical input on the amp

those minijack connections are dual-mode - analogue and digital, simply plug a 3.5mm stereo jack to 2XRCA cable in and you're set to go - unless your soundcard drivers require a toggle

with multi-ports like that, it's either one, or the other, at any one time (you'd need a device that would receive the optical signal)
