sound card problem

ok, i have a sound blaster live 5.1 card, now i have no sound what so ever i tried downloading a new driver but when i tried to put it in it said it couldnt detect a sound card and wmp says the same thing...now im looking right at the sound card in my system so whats wrong with it?

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven.

First could you tell us what is the cards model number it should me in the top right corner of the card and start with letters "SB" and then there is some numbers. And second are you trying to install creative's drivers or kX drivers?

And make sure that card is all the way in the pci bus. It might take some force to make sure it's in.

lol its deffinately in there, if i push ne harder it'll cut me.and yea the model # is SB0100 and i installed the drivers from creative's website and also whatever windows update used

o and thanks for the welcome i would of said that sooner but i was just excited at the idea of my sound coming back since i havent been able to watch any movies or listen to any music

I wouldn't use the drivers from windows update since they can really mess it up. Try to uninstall the creative drivers and then reinstall them.

ok i did all that but to no avail, im bout to say screw it and get some credit on newegg for a new system...lol.

P.S.----->in ur opinion is the ASUS P5N-E 650i SLI mobo worth getting? or is there anything better in that price range?

is there an sli equivilent to that? i wanna be able to just slap in another geforce 8500gt when i need an upgrade since that card is only $114 now and bound to get cheaper

sli board has only nvidia chipset so then that board would do fine
