connecting stereo boxes to pc

Is it possible to connect the ordinary stereo boxes to the pc?
the boxes i have have just a little black and red wire. I only got the boxes left, the the actual stereo, so what could i do?
I was thinking, are there plugs where i can connect the black/red wires into, and plug that into the amplifier i have now?

i am not really sure, but dont those things only have 2 channel inputs? i guess you can mod a 3.5mm jack into it and plug that in.... should work..

are you talknig about the sort of amplifiers found in home theater systems?

You'll need an amp. But with one you definitely can.

I have a 5.1 set now. 5 little boxes and one subwoofer. All the little boxes are connected to the subwoofer and that gets connected to the PC. So isnt that the amplifier?

to a degree. Simply just switching those speakers to different ones will not work.

Yes, there's an amp contained in the sub box. As long as the resistance (ohm rating) is in spec, you can swap the speakers to different amps, or different speakers to the amp in the sub box.

I guess i have to buy some kind of amp then... my whole 5.1 set was a cheapa$$ kinda set. so i dont think thats gonna work.
