Acer Aspire E571 w/ Realtek HD (Vista-Xp)

Hello good fellows !

I managed to resolved many issues with sound cars with the time but now I got one that cant manage to fix :

I got a Acer Aspire E571 with a Realtek HD audio on board. THe system came with Vista and I had some issues with the digital output with that card but I managed to get it working. But then I decided to go back to XP, and now everything works except the audio card. My system doesnt recognize any sound card, telling me no devices are installed. I tried the realtek hd drivers from their website, form acers site and manually but cant manage to get it working. Does anyone can help me ?

Thanks a lot,
Tondeuse

What happens when you try to install the drivers? Also is there any exclamation's over any unknown devices in "Device Manager"?

when I install the drivers, everything goes fine. I reboot right after it and when windows loads back the sound is still missing.

Theres no exclamation point in device manager except for a Ethernet controller

when I go in Sounds in the control pannel, it says No audio device.

Also, in add/remove hardware, I can see the realtek drivers installed

But when I go in the realtek folder (c:/program files/realtek/audio) theres files such as audi o manager and updater but neither of any exe does something when I click on them.

Ok I managed to get it working so here is how I did it for the googlers :

While I was looking at my device manager, under system I found a little exclamation point next to PCI - I right-clicked : update driver, automatic, and bang ! it recognized the my audio card. So i unistalled audio drivers, reboot, installing em back, reboot and I got sound

Thx for the fast reply Necrosis
