hi all!
first of all: nice forum! i've learned a lot of computing stuff here..! ![]() i got a big problem with my audigy 2 zs card! i bought a front panel for my 5.1 surround headset that i want to plug in to my soundcard! but u can't connect 5.1 thorugh the J1 or AD_EXT on the board, so i want to solder the contact pins directly on the sound outputs.. the problem is: there are 5 or more contacts for each 3 ports (front, rear, center and bass). i don't know which of these ones i should solder (image 2)...and where i plug the GND.. (got 8 cables from my front panel: front-L, front-R, rear-L, Rear-R, Mic-R, Mic-L, Gnd and Bass) i thought i dont need to solder for the mic so i can connect Mic-R on Mic and Mic-L on Mic-BIAS on the J1-port?! (http://www.hardwareheaven.com/410454-post36.html) also i suspect that if u put a 3,5 connector into the jack a bridge is closed. (image 1) so i musst solder for each port a small bride, or? i know many question for the first post, but i'm grateful for help! ..and sry for my bad english! ![]() http://viktoriously.de/soundcard/image_1.jpg and http://viktoriously.de/soundcard/image_2.jpg Last edited by *viktorious*; Oct 27, 2007 at 07:50 PM. |

imo the bridge isn't really necessaryy if you just want audio output
my advice, to find which pins are which, use a multimeter with a beep function

the interference is most likely due to the cables you soldered on being unshielded - add some shielding (aluminium foil wrapped around, then covered with heat-shrink or electrical tape) should do the job just fine
