Soundcard for Vista 64?

With the major headaches that are Creative's drivers resulting in BSODs if I were to use Creative ALchemy, it sort of defeats the purpose of having an EAX card since enabling EAX just causes a bsod.

So i'm looking for soundcard recommendations for Vista 64. I considered picking up Auzentech's Prelude but since it uses Creative's drivers as well, there's really no point.

Are you using the latest drivers currently on the Creative site? The drivers from the start of October caused BSODs in everything, and they've sinced rolled back to a less buggy version.

No. I am actually using a set Daniel K (of modded X-Fi driver for Audigys fame) leaked from Dell's latest set which was built on the 2.14 driver line instead of Creative's current 2.15 as I had previously been running the 2.15 03s that they rolled back from and going back to the 2.15 02s didn't fix much either.

As it stands, none of the driver sets Creative has for the X-Fi on Vista 64 has allowed it to run without BSOD issues whatever i'm playing or doing.

Just a heads up, but new drivers came out today,

Auzentech Prelude works 100% with Vista x64...I can personally attest to that, and it sounds 10x better than any of the Creative offerings.

It's not that I doubt it sounds amazing. It's that given that it still runs Creative drivers especially for games, I don't see how hardware changes would make a major difference for inherent driver issues.

because while it uses "creative hardware and drivers" for it's bases in some aspects... from what auzentech prelude i got to handle for a short time.... the drivers actually turned out quite well because they appear heavily modified and built from the ground up by auzentech themselves... I mean they had to get the source data from creative to start and build around the x-fi chip.. but they also had to make it friendly with the other components they used as well...

anything is better then creatives drivers
