Creative 7900 7.1, how to use as 5.1 in vista?
I've got the Creative Inspire 7900 7.1 speaker set, connected up to a X-fi Music sound card within Vista x86. The audio console is installed.
I'm looking to use my 7.1 speakers in 5.1, as I don't want to connect the two back speakers. Currently, when I choose 5.1 within the Entertainment mode, nothing gets played throughout the two back speakers within the 5.1 setup, but if I choose 7.1, the speakers work. (Being a 7.1 setup, this makes sense). I just want to be able to choose 5.1, and have the two back speakers activated in this mode. I don't want to use the 7.1 mode, and only use 5.1 speakers as I play games, and this would take away the realism. Can anyone suggest anything? Cheers. |

Have you tried swapping the plugs for the side and rear speakers, or is that possible with your speaker setup?

Quite often you have to swap the speakers as the rear in 5.1 and rear in 7.1 can be "different"
This is preset on the realtek hd devices as well when i used them, the black is usually rear... but in 5.1 mode, the Grey ports are actually Rear.
