Which speakers to buy?

Hi long time no see. So I'm having a serious indecisiveness issue. My sub stopped workin correctly the other day and now I'm in need of a whole new 2.1 speaker set. I'm looking for something quality for around $50 with a pretty powerful sub. The ones I'm looking at are:

Logitech X-230
Newegg.com - Logitech X-230 32 watts RMS 2.1 Black Speaker System - OEM
I like this set because they're a good quality for the price, the guy who lives next to me has them and they sound pretty nice, and the online reviews are very good.

Logisys SP6006CL
Newegg.com - LOGISYS Computer SP6006CL 40 Watts RMS 2.1 Multimedia Clear Speaker W/Blue LEDS - Retail
Here's where my problem comes in because I really want the blinking leds on these, my last pair had a light on the sub and I really liked it. The only problem is that I'm afraid of the sound quality. I cant find any official reviews for them, but the ones on newegg are pretty good so I'm really tempted to get them. they look a little silly though but I don't really care.

Logitech Z-4
Newegg.com - Logitech Z-4 40 watts 2.1 Speaker - Retail
I like the look of these, but they're pricey for me. also I read some reviews that said the sub was somewhat lacking. if someone knows if they're massively better than the other two id get them though.

any input would be greatly appreciated, or suggestions for other speakers, I've done my research but just can't pick, its been driving me nuts for the past couple days. Thanks for all the help.

Thumbs Up!

When I've built PCs for peeps, I've always gone with the X-230s. They are really quite amazing for the price. The Sub is more that suitable for the average PC room. My brother has a set and he listens to music all day, he loves them. I was recently going to get a set but I had to go for the X-240 as they were out of stock of the 230. The only niggle I have is that the bass control is on the Sub rather than somewhere more "reachable" like next to the volume control.

Oh no, none of these Logitech trash systems.
Try theseProMedia GMX A-2.1 --- Computer Speakers
I have these Speakers on my desk and the soundquality is amazing.
No Creative or Logitech speaker is comparable to Klipsch.

As much as I love Klipsch, those speakers are about double the price of the ones in the OP, so it's to be expected that they'll sound better.

I've got basically the 5.1 version of the Logitech X-230 in my den, and I love them. For the price, I think you can't go wrong.

I'm not sure what kind of sound card you have, but if you are running on-board sound, shell out a few bucks for a discrete card, it's worth it. Even if its a $25 creative card.

The sub of the Logisys one looks very similar to the sub of the JBL Soundsticks set

Even some of the internal parts look they are copies.

I have 2.1 X230s. Theyre probably almost the best speakers in my house. This is probably more indicative of how old/how much the other ones suck though :P (this could be to do with the amplifier for our main stereo, looks like it's at least 10 years old)

Only thing is, they're not very good at reproducing high treble. I don't think this is a problem with my sound card (though it is integrated), I listened to the same port through my earphones and it was almost too trebley. Bass is fine though.

I have the z2300's too, and they do sound quite good, but I doubt that you can get them for 50 bucks.

X-230s got my vote. Have a pair myself. Love them so much I sell them almost exclusively in my shop. The X-530s would be my next choice (5.1 set of the same speakers), or the X-540s. However, stay as far away as possible from the X-240s. While the X-230s and X-530s use the same exact speakers, but one in a 5.1 set, the X-240 and X-540 have absolutely nothing in common. The X-240s are absolute garbage.

'Course, if you have the money (or can save up a bit more), go for the older Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. They sound better (richer sound) than their redesigned big brother, the GMX, and you can probably find them for a good price (as low as $180).

Or between those sets in price, you can get the Logitech Z-10. No sub, but they have tight sound, and are better musically than pretty much everything else in the price range.

And the USB connection and LCD are nifty.
