Is there is any settings in the control panel for your card that says anything about 5.1? It's been awhile since I've messed with a live. However, the problem maybe that your using 6.1 speakers w/ a 5.1 surround card. It might be time to upgrade.

Do you have WinAMP setup to play via DirectX..that maybe why it's not doing 6.1 for you. BTW, what version of WinAMP. Problem is I know very little about WinAMP and it's DSP's. I bet Dallas could tell you better than I how to get this working.

Wouldn't this belong in the Tech forum?

Sound Blaster Live! only supports 5.1, so it's only natural that one speaker will stay mute, if it's not especially addressed. WinAmp apparently can't handle a 6.1 speaker system on a 5.1 card, while Windows seems to have no problems there... perhaps you should try a different WinAmp version.
If you used the new WinAmp 3, try using WinAmp 2.9 and see if that works.

Technology side of this:
Soundblaster Live! yellow/orange output *does*not* support two center channels, but only one. It's a hardware limitation (driver hacks/patches/updates/whatever will not help). It works in speaker test, because Creative wanted it that way, meaning - you can't simulateously pass sound to both centers, but only one at one time, right?
I suggest you to consider getting Audigy2 OEM - it's cheap, has (well, more or less) decent drivers, and it supports 6.1 (which is Creative-specific, other manafacturers use 7.1 on four outputs, while Creative uses 6.1 on three outputs).

Sorry if this post was too offensive, I didn't mean it to be that way. I just wanted to point the facts and hardware limitations.

Just an idea that came on my mind... what happens if you use Audigy2 apps and drivers and enable CMSS?
