x-fi xtreme audio driver problem

Im unable to install the latest drivers by creative well they have now removed them but they were there for few days... it says product not supported they allways ask me for the product code but I cannot open up my pc as if I do, I'll lose my warranty. I have some old drivers (the p17.* files) which were aimed at windows xp - because of this - im unable to install sp1.... + all 5 speakers don't work etc... does anyone have any good drivers for this?

Hi there and Welcome to DriverHeaven!

Is your PC made by some big company like Dell or HP?
If it is then the creative driver won't work for you. And for XP I recommend that you install SP2 not SP1

I see.. The warranty usually isn't broken if you open the case. I got X-Fi Extreme music and it don't prompt me for product code. Do you know actually what sound card you have installed on your system? The card has the model number on the top right corner if memory serves me right. It should be like SBXXXXX the X are some numbers.

Never heard that kind off warranty system ... Sounds like you should give a call to them and ask for the correct drivers for your card since they know more about the system than you.

Identify your sound card correctly. Which soundcard do you have? X-fi "Xtreme Music" or "Xtreme Audio"? These two soundcards are totally different and use different soundchips. Make sure you got the correct driver for the soundcard, since these soundcards have their own drivers.

Good luck!

Bummer

Sounds like you are having the same problem as I am. Except that my problem is that I am running dell precision 670 and can not open case either to check seating. Everything should be good cause card worked fine in xp. Installed vista and can not get any drivers. I think that I am going to be required to revert back to the restore partition. Of course dell doesn't have any driver support for Vista and neither does Creative. They say they do but no drivers work. Always getting the same error supported device not found.

If the card is OEM card, in case of Dell it is highly possible. The Creative cant do much to give drivers and support since it's not made by creative.

The latest extreme audio Vista driver was posted on 2nd April:
</Title> <meta name="CREAF.dateCreated" content="4/15/2008 5:13:41 PM" /> <meta name="CREAF.renderNode" content="203.211.142.196" /> <meta name="CREAF.clientNode" content="209.62.83.38" /> <meta name="CREAF.lcsSetting" content="1_44_61" /> <meta name

Give that a shot, but if it doesnt work you really need to contact the company who made the PC and find out what you need.
