nForce1 sound issue

I have an nForce1 motherboard.

I recently clean installed windows 98SE on my spare HDD. After loading and patching up drivers and updates, I got this nForce sound issue. When I play some media files like audio files or in-game movies they go too fast skipping very short intervals throughout the track or the movie. I know it's nForce sound problem because I installed RealTek sound codec driver by mistake(I thought it was some sort of sound utility from Abit support page) and it played fine with the wrong(?!
!) driver. Then I switched back to latest nForce driver and it is happening again.
It's like sttutering in music or movie but it actually goes too fast sounding like sttutering.

Does anybody have the same or similar problem? Is this a known issue? I heard that nForce does not get along with Win98 when the nForce first came out but still does or what?

Any help, please?

Thanks

Hmm...interesting I've read this post like 10 times and have had nothing to since since I know almost nothing about nforce1.

What version of drivers are you using? I would recommend you use what it listed on Abit's site despite it being older.

Have you tried turning down sound acceleration?

Most nForce1 boards use Realtek AC97 codecs, so that could be the cause; for newest Realtek drivers check here.

Very true...some of the budget nforce2 due as well. I'm didn't mention this because I couldn't find any mention on the Abit site thus showing my "greeness" on this subject.
