X-FI versions ????
I'm thinking of upgrading my sound card to an X-FI. One thing I do want is the I/O panel like I have with my Audigy2.
I looked at the Creative site and it looks like the X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Series is that one that would work best, as I don't like the I/O panel of the PCI-E TITANIUM Now, looking on EBAY I'm seeing this, X-Fi Platinum 7.1, which appears to be the same card without the silly Fatal1ty logo on it: Creative SOUND BLASTER X-Fi Platinum 7.1 Card +CASHBACK - eBay (item 230274255847 end time Jul-27-08 20:26:46 PDT) My question is, am I correct in thinking that the SOUND CARD in both cases is the same, and that the only real difference is in the I/O panels? If not, what would be the differences. Bear in mind, that I'm happy with my Audigy2, but I managed to let out the 'magic smoke' from the I/O drive and it's no longer functional. If the non-Fatal1ty card would work as well or better than the Audigy2 then I would be perfectly happy buying one of those at @ $100.00 as opposed to $179.00 (Newegg), and getting nothing for the extrs $$ than a silly logo. NOTE: I like Creative sound cards and have never had a problem with them. Anyone posting get "Creative Suxxorz", or "Get brand Q, X or Z", or the like, in reply, will get a FWZ thread started in response, and it won't be nice

Not sure about that card being the same.... could be. I just looked at that ebay listing and although it shows an internal IO drive, the listing says "external IO" which is something you probably don't want. Better ask that guy before pulling the trigger.
Peace

I think it's just that some folks get 'confuzulated' when talking about the Creative I/O drives
![]() "Internal" as in mounted, or "External" as in outputs. As long as it has the I/O drive, it's the right setup.

I think they make an external drive that connects via USB or Firewire... maybe not this model? I don't know. I used to sell and buy on ebay a lot and it's always best to check out EVERYTHING....... some of those guys don't have a clue and some are really slick in their wording..... I always watchout for those that use stock photos.
