Does anybody have a working driver for Vista for the following same card in this e-bay link.
@ Brand New Creative X-Fi Xtreme 7.1 Music Sound Card - eBay Other Sound Cards, Sound Cards, Video, Sound, Multimedia, Computers. (end time 13-Aug-08 13:27:28 AEST) I bought the card hoping that the drivers on CD will work. But, so far no luck. Please help me out, if you can. Thanx. |

You need to get the drivers from here
Since the drivers on the CD are for XP only. |

Hmm... It does say it's OEM card... Does the card have any markings of the OEM that made it?

Hmm... it could be Dell's card... but I'm not 100% sure about it.... but you could try Dell's drivers if they would work... or these : http://www.hardwareheaven.com/audio-ge...xfi-cards.html

did a google search on SB0460, seems to be the standard model number for the card, OEM or Retail
now when you say the drivers do not install, what happens? check your device manager, does your card show up there (usually as an unknown device, or multimedia controller) if it does NOT, that's why the drivers won't install, because the card isn't being detected. Creative soundcards occasionally have the problem of not showing up in the device manager, so try moving the card (temporarily) to another PCI slot on you motherboard - it should be picked up by windows then, and you can install the official drivers

The card appears in the device manager as "Multimedia Audio Controller".
When I run the installer, it starts and ends correctly. However, even though all other creative stuff like Audio Console gets installed. But not the drivers. When I reboot, the windows starts to search for drivers but say that no driver found for the device ID: Hardware ID: - PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0005&SUBSYS_00201102&REV_00 Compatible ID: - PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0005&REV_00 I tried using windows update, but even there a driver is not found. The current modded drivers do not install too. I appreciate , if you can help me out. Thanx. |

robert, maybe you should let him figure out wether he has a hardware/install issue before throwing modded drivers at him & the potential prob he could face with those.
posdhkid, djstick has excellent advice on moving card to another slot. i actually ran into this issue. have no idea what it is about/wether it is creative issue(my belief) or ms issue. anyway, i moved caed to a different slot, installed drivers, moved card to slot were i wantrd it to be( due to irq conflict- prolly not an issue for u), reinstalled drivers, np. ![]() once u get the card 'installed' & have no prob, then consider roberts drivers. he has done a lot of good work.

But, it was no use. The drivers did not get installed. Do you use the same type of X-fi card as I posted in my first post? Thanx. |

nah i have xfi plat. if previous sound card worked in either of those slots id say you prolly have defective card. while creative drivers do/have several issues, getting them installed usually isnt one of them- aside from what has already been talked about in this thread.
bty do u have another comp available to try the card in?

I have had problems with a XFI Xtreme Music card (all be it it's a 5.1 version) with vista. The early days these had some serious issues with Windows vista but this was mainly with the sound play back. All drivers i tried installed without problem but never fixed the fault.
From time to time the card worked fine then on other bootups nothing.I have no problems over the last 6 months or so and i have upgraded the creative drivers at least 3 times without problems. I am no tech expert so dont throw it back at me,Seriously looking at what mike2h & kriss23 has said. It sure sounds like a faulty card or a counterfeit XFI card.I would try to contact the ebay seller to see how good or quick the replies are.If you don't get any replies from them i would be a little concerned. I use Ebay myself (UK) and one of my preferences is to buy within the country i live in and avoid any listing thats states item located in (For example)China .Why i am saying this is due to reports i have read recently the uk is finding a high number of Forged/Counterfeit electrical appliances being imported into the uk which don't meet any safty standerds required for the uk.I don't know about else where outside the uk.But it may be something to consider. Hope you get your issue sorted out. |

Thanx guys
Yes, I am hoping to send the card back; if I don't get the issue solved with Robert's Drivers too.
Thanx a lot for the replies. I guess anybody who buy OEM cards from e-bay should be cautioned not to go for OEMs since we do not know exactly which OEM is it and may ran into the same problem as I am. May no body else get into trouble like me...!!!!!!!! |
