Soundstorm and 6.1 speaker setups?

Please excuse my sound equipment noobness, but I'm currently using the onboard sound on my mobo which is supposed to be 6.1 channel, but the only outputs I see are mic, line in, and line out. My question is, would I be able to run a six speaker setup like the Z680's with the onboard sound? I've tried looking through afew reviews but they never show the inputs/outputs. I do know that my board is missing the SPDIF out but I don't think the 680's run off that anyways
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot afford a new soundcard after buying these
thx

Here's what I found:

You can use the 8RDA+ in 6-channel sound mode, as the blue jack doubles up as the rear speakers output an the pink jack provides centre / subwoofer support. Naturally, the green jack still services the front pair.

4 speaker prob

I'm currently using the onboard sound on my mobo which is supposed to be 6.1 channel, but the only outputs I see are mic, line in, and line out. My question is, would I be able to run a 4 speaker setup inspire creative but the only outputs I see are mic, line in, and line out

You should be able to get it going by using the green and blue outputs and setting it up in 4 channel mode in the nForce Tray options. Let us know if this doesn't work for you

PS. There's also a 'Speaker Setup Wizzard' in there incase you run into any probs.

EEK!

what board is it? usually the onboard sound that say they are 6.1/5.1 you would have to use the extra hardware that should have been supplied by the board manufacturer...if there was none then you may be able to use the 3 plugs on all of your jacks on the onboard .....If that makes any sense ...lol
