Audigy2 NX + PAX. So Aggrivated. PLEASE Help.
I'll try to make this as short and sweet as possible.
Relevant system specs: Gigabyte G33 mATX mobo Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Yesterday I picked up an Audigy2 NX USB external sound card from Craigslist for 20 bucks. I've always used onboard audio but recently started collecting lossless audio and decided to try and get some better sound. For 20 bucks I figured I couldn't go wrong. I get it home, set it up, download the drivers from the Creative site and I'm getting some latency issues so I fixed it by using ASIO4All. After a little looking I learned that apparently there isn't any software for this card when using Vista. However, after a little more looking around I found that there is hacked software for Vista. The first software I found was by some Brazillian guy (Daniel_K I think), but after pressure from Creative, he's not going to be doing any more updates. I scrapped the idea of using that and finally found the PAX software and this site. This is where all the confusion and aggrivation started. Before installing the PAX software I completely uninstalled the other Creative driver. I ran Driver Cleaner, cleaned the registry (with both with a cleaner and manually), and rebooted, but I can't get the PAX software to install. I keep getting a message saying that "Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system". I even went as far as running system restore from a point before I ever even owned the card in and tried running the PAX setups but still no go. Theres so many different versions of this PAX software I'm not sure I'm even using the right one. I tried several including, PAX Audigy OS V6.10, Audigy4prosoftware_YouP, SB_Audigy_4 (the ISO), YouP-PAX_Audigy_Series_20e (the 2008 suite), but none of them work. What am I doing wrong? Does the PAX software even work with the Audigy2 NX? The factory drivers from Creative for Vista install and work fine. When I use ASIO4All I get no latentcy and it sounds great. But I'd still like to get some of the software going if I could. Any help with this is appreciated. Thanks. |

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Are you saying that there isn't currently a Creative/PAX USB sound card driver and you can make me one?

i don't know if the card uses a kX chip, if it does, maby the kX Project drivers could help, either lok for a specs sheet on the net, or, do it the old fashioned way
... just open the card and see inside, if the main processing chip has a "K" written anywhere on it, or "EMU" written anywhere on it, the drivers should (probably...) work, maby with some tweaking, or something, or just go to the main kX project website, and see if your card model is suported by the driver... try any of these combinations, one of them might work

Hey, I cleaned my system one time like that before installing my Audigy 2 and the same thing happened. I think I manually installed the driver and got it going again from the device manager. If all else fails, get the cd.

If you mean the original driver/software CD, then I have that. But the drivers and software on that disc are from 2003 or so and won't work on Vista which is the whole problem since I have Vista. If I'm missing something please let me know.

try the USB-ASIO driver, from whta i could see from the main develpers site, your card is supported by the driver:
Audigy 2 NX (48 kHz only / not on Mac OS X yet) i have a Lexicon Omega USb card, the driver worked for me, so try it, maby it will work for you . here is the link where you can download the driver:http://www.usb-audio.com/usb_asio_vista_beta.zip the driver is for XP/Vista32, so it sould work, from what i read fro your system specs .PS: the driver is not free of charge, if you run it in ASIO mode (in any adio prodycing application i.e. Cubase SX, FLStudio...), the driver produces an anying beep every 30 seconds untill you pay the registration fee, but i don't think it beeps in playback mode. anyway it cost $55 to buy, so just try it, trying is free of charge .

Thanks for all the info everyone but I've decided to trash the Creative card and get an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card. I'll never own another piece of Creative garbage again.
The worst part is that even after getting rid of the card and attempting to go back to the onboard Realtek HD audio until my "real" sound card arrives, the Realtek drivers won't install properly. Thanks a lot Creative. I hope you rot in Hell. |
