Problems with Audigy 2 ZS drivers.
I've been trying to install the driver to this card for about 2 hours, and i have yet to find any driver that will work.
either the driver isn't for my card, or when it installs, and after it restarts, it won't start up, and i'm at the screen where it asks me if i want to safe boot, boot from last good configuration, or start normally, and if i start normally, it just restarts my computer, and all i can do is go to last good configuration. I don't know why this is happening, and I've been raging for hours. heres what I've tried so far kxdrv3539-full.exe kxdrv3537-full.exe Pax_Audigy_V6.00 Pax_Audigy_XP_VistaV5.25 PAX_Audigy_OS_V6.10.rar SBA2_PCWDRV_LB_1_84_55-R1.exe SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0001.exe the last two are official, and the last one is specifically for my card. and i removed and uninstalled the drivers before installing the other drivers each time. my OS is Windows XP Media Center SP3. |

For me it was normal that the PC did stall when rebooting after Audigy 2 driver installation. Second reboot or booting to safe mode cured the issue.
Just get the latest original driver installation, extract the installer into your hard drive, locate the ctzapxx.exe, run it and install over current installation w/o un-installing first. http://support.creative.com/download...wnloadId=10581 If no success then try by downloading the ISO image from BadBoy site (BadBoyforum Blog - FileFront.com). jiitee |

I already tried the official driver.
and it doesn't stall, it just keeps restarting itself, and restarting itself. If it happens again, i'll try safe boot. i'm downloading the iso now. |

does the card show up in the device manager?
(even as just an unkown device) if not, try moving the card to another PCI slot - you should be able to install a driver set then

also, you might want to see if any of the PCI slots have the "Disable PCI clock" function under BIOS set to "Enabled". some BIOS versions i've ran into happen to have that function for all the PCI slots that the motherboard has.

try fideling with the Resources tab, sometiomes there can be a conflict with the I/O range, Memory range, or DMA and IRQ assignments of the card, try changing them manualy, then restrat and see if it works. if you have a specs sheet, see if there are any predefined values for these settings that the card should use as default. it's a PCI interface card, so it shouldn't have any kind of predefined I/O Ranges, Memory ranges, IRQ and DMA assignments, but just in case it does have... wouldn't hurt to try changing them... it might work... the card is useless as it is right now.
did you try changing the PCI slot, sometimes some motherboards asign specific Resources for specific PCI slots, they don't assign them randomly or by the specific resources the card requires. it wouldn't hurt to try this also... my SB Live! 5.1 worked on only one PCI slot on my previous motherboard .

i'll try the first thing you said and get back to you, but first, which one do i put my speakers jack in? theres 7 different holes, and i hate having to try each one every time i test it out. its just a basic 2 speakers with one green jack, nothing fancy. Quote:
edit: yyayayaya switching the card to the other pci slot works, but i'm worrying if it being to close to my gpu will mess things up.. they are touching, which i'm sure a fan blowing hot air onto another card, and having no room inbetween is bad.. edit: so i put it into the slow it was in before, and when i booted up, it played the boot up sound through the card, but half way through the boot up jingle it stopped, and audio won't play anymore. anyways, heres the device now ![]()

from what i can see, it doesn't give you a manual configuration option, it's grayed out, so... don't you have any other PCI slots on that motherboard, you only have 2? because the location on the second screenshot says "PCI Slot 4", maby try rearanging other devices...

It says 4 because its my fourth slot, i'm quite sure
2 pci, 1 pci-e x16, and one pci-e x1 |

so i guess the pci-e 1x slot is at the bottom of the board, ha... mine 2 pci-e 1x slots are just under the pci-e 16x slot, so there is plenty of room for the card...
don't know what else to recommend you except maby try changin the settngs in the bios, in the PNP configuration menu, maby setting the IRQ: 21 to be reserved for a PCI slot, maby that will somehow fix the problem....

hmm, in my bios, under the pnp config menu, it only shows IRQ3 - IRQ15..

whell, what does it say about them, maby set one of them (for example IRQ15) to be reserved foa a PCI slot, try different combinations, the lower IRQs are usually reserved for mose, keyboard, graphic card, USB, etc, so try from IRQ10 and go up to IRQ15, saving and restarting the PC, loading XP, and see how that works out...

They all said "PCI Device"
I changed 10-15 to "Reserved" no sound. when i put it in the other slot, and i boot up, it works perfectly. that slot is probably fucked. here it is on the working port ![]()

it's not the PCi slot that's fucked it's the motherboard, i guess... it assigns an IRQ depending on which slot you put your card in... i don't know any option in BIOS that could change that... maby someone does, but it wouldn't hurt to try to clean any residue (regitry entries), from your old drivers, put the card back in the "distant" slot and try again installing the drivers... probably the last piece of advice from me

whell, i think that's about all you can do... if it didn't work with that kind cleaning, than it's probably hardware related... hmmmmm... do you have any other OS's installed on that rig of yours? see if it does the same thing on another OS, maby even reinstall XP all over, but try a different edition than the one you currently have... just a suggestion...

, why did you transfer to SP3 anyway, it's an unstable edition. Judas once wrote this for WinME:"it either works really whell, or doesn't work at all" i've had similar experience with SP3, most of the software and hardware that works really whell under SP2 doesn't under SP3... don't know why...?
