Aud. 1 Ext drive bay on Aud. 2 zs problem
Hey guys, I have been searching around on here for a couple of weeks trying to figure out a problem I am having.
I have an Audigy 2 zs, and recently got a hold of the drive bay for an Audigy Platinum EX along with the sb0110b daughterboard. I have modded the cable to connect to the ZS, and so far almost everything works. But, my issues are: 1. Optical, and SPDIF-in don't work. I have tried every option in both KX mixer, and the original Creative Audio console. 2. If I set the sampling rate to anything other than 96 khz I have a loud hiss from all speakers. I am trying this because I need the optical input for connecting my 360 for Dolby Digital. Ever since lightning took out my Onkyo reciever, I have had to live without surround sound, and I would like to get it back. Reading the input voltage at pin 5 @ ad_ext, with the 360 connected, I get roughly 2.2 volts, so, I am not sure if it is just a voltage issue or not. I have had a rough time trying to find any information about connecting the external drive to the ZS, so, if anybody would like, I will be the test dummy, and hopefully get this stuff to work. Thanks. |

Re: Aud. 1 Ext drive bay on Aud. 2 zs problem
Now, I have a second question. I have been reading about doing a loopback to check to see if my input works. Not exactly sure how, but I went ahead and connected pins 25 and 35 for the creative driver, then connected 5 and 9. Now the part I have the hard time with, how do I use this method to test. I am running Vista x64 at the moment, so I am running the creative drivers. I dual boot with xp 32 running the newest KX beta. First I set my card to digital out, then opened up the audio console, tried the different passthrough settings, and not once did it show up a connection. It always shows "unkown or invalid signal". That is the same thing that it shows when trying to connect to the 360. I had also made a new cable that just crossed pins 25 and 35, and only connected to the optical input.
I am really starting to think that the spdif-in does not work on this card anymore. Oh, and another thing, it will work if connected to the cd_spdif, but it is not right. Distorts way to easily. PLEASE HELP. |

Re: Aud. 1 Ext drive bay on Aud. 2 zs problem
Update 2.
After having my pc on for a while, the optical output light goes out. But, once I connect either an optical input, or coax input, the light comes back on. I just tried making a new cable, just to see if I may have wired it wrong, but I had it right the first time, and it still does the same thing. However, the hiss I am hearing will either go away once I select 96 khz sample, or mute line 2 mic 2. |

Re: Aud. 1 Ext drive bay on Aud. 2 zs problem
Never mind, this has been too aggrevating. I have been searching, and i haven't slept in 2 days trying to make this work. So, I have given up. I can't find any information on this at all. I have searched, and searched. I think that the input on my card is fried. Simple as that. Just toss both of these in the trash, and live with my onboard audio.
thanks |

Re: Aud. 1 Ext drive bay on Aud. 2 zs problem
ok this *can* work, but not completely
any of the analogue inputs (line/mic 2 and aux 2) will not work, and neither will the headphones, do to the internal sample rate differences (the converters on the Audigy 2 use 96khz as opposed to 48khz on the live/audigy 1 series and their attachments) the digital/spdif I/O will most likely work, as will the MIDI what you will need is a whole lot of single connection cables (i tend to use the same sort of cables that used to come with generic cases with 1 pin for each connction on the front panel header) and you will need to match up the following pinouts correctly, ie OUT on the EX drive to IN on the audigy 2 and vice versa: http://driverheaven.net/audio-genera...i-pinouts.html use the AUD_EXT header for the audigy EX drive, and AD_EXT for the audigy 2. with the amount of time and effort this mod requires, and the fact that you won't get any analogue I/O on the panel (if that's what you're after) you may want to re-consider...
