Audigy 2 zs platinum pro MODIFCATION for the Console
hi all what you all upto?
anyhow just picked up this refurbed audigy 2 zs platinum pro from creative.com....$80.00 black friday deal....(which i didnt get cause i ordered it before that for $90.00 but oh well) everything appears to be working fine....just using the winxp 32bit beta drivers from creative right now. i have a problem that i hope some of you might be able to help that still have this unit you know the line-in 1/mic-in jack on the console right? if i run some kind of app like sonar, ableton, soundforge or adobe audition (an app that basically lets you see the recording levels) and i do not have anything plugged into that port at all....and i switch it to on everything looks fine....but if i turn the knob to full those green level meters go up 1/2 way cross the screen to aprox 50% dont forget this is with no mic connected. that tells me that its probably not a good pre-amp that the Gain knob goes to? is this correct? one more thing i did some testing with my multimeter on that line-in 1/mic-in port. it has a Left and a Right channel dont forget so i plugged in a 1/4" stereo plug into it that has 2 rca female connectors on the other end (you know the red and white) the red measures around 720ohms and the white measures around 350ohms....what gives? creative sayss the mic-in should be 600ohms but they dont say if the Left channel or Right channel are BOTH supposed to be 600ohms or what. anyhow if someone could check it with a multimeter just to verify i would apprecaite it. note: i just turn the gain knob to on (the lowest gain setting before putting it into Line-in 1 mode) then perform the test. and the main topic in this thread is.... does anyone know any mods for the pre-amp or op-amp in the I/O console that can make it better? i see lots of mods on sound cards but what about these I/O consoles? |
