??? Coaxial and Optical Sharing the same Prolog outputs?

Hi Everyone -

First of all, here's wishing everyone on the forum a Happy, Safe and Prosperous New Year!

Now my question:

I recently switched my Audigy 2Zs (SB0360 10k2) from a Pentium P4 3Ghz DAW into a Core2 Quad Q9550 DAW system - still running WinXP SP3 as before. kX audio driver v.3545.

I have been doing most of my recording via SPDIF (Prolog outputs 800c&d > Epilog inputs 4018& 4019+ASIO 8/9) and sometimes via Line 1 (sparingly as it invariably this generates ~38DB of additional hiss even with nothing connected to it). I now have need to connect an ART DPSII via Optical for a set of mics to record room ambience.

Here where I noticed something wierd. It seems that after the transition to the Q9550, the Prolog only shows 14 outs vs. the 16 outs I used to have on the P4, and that Optical and Coaxial now seem to be sharing the same outputs.

My Prolog outputs are now assigned as follows (top to bottom):
1- AC97 Left [8000] in0
2- AC97 Right [8001] in1
3- CD SPDIF Left [8002] in2
4- CD SPDIF Right [8003] in3
5- I2S / SPDIF C Left [8004] in4
6- I2S / SPDIF C Right [8005] in5
7- Coaxial / Optical Left [800c] in6
8- Coaxial / Optical Right [800d] in7
9- Line1 / Mic1 Left [8010] in8
10- Line1 / Mic1 Left [8010] in9
11- Line2 Left [8014] in10
12- Line2 Right [8015] in11
13- Line3 Left [8018] in12
14- Line3 Right [8019] in13

I have tried reinstalling the kx drivers 3 times and still come up with the same configuration. So:

1) Is this normal and I somehow got my brain crossed and confused from what I thought I had on the P4?
2) If not, is there any way to fix it so that I can use the Optical inputs separately?
3) If it is normal, is there any way to fix it so that I can use the Optical inputs separately anyway? Maybe somehow using the I2S / SPDIF C?

Thanks!
SG

Re: Coaxial and Optical Sharing the same Prolog outputs?

OK - Yes, replying to myself.

Not sure how or why, but seems I'm able to access SPDIF and Optical on the Audigy 2S separately in WinXp SP2 but not in SP3.

Weird beans... Either I'm losing it or something seems really screwy here. Has anyone else come up against this recently?
