2 Issues with Audigy 2

Hi there,

maybe i can find some help here after my several weeks taking journey through teh webs

I got an audigy 2 and a 5.1 analogue speaker system.
I dont get 5.1 sound out of the audigy. In Speaker Settings and THX Console all sounds of speaker checking are send through front left and right speakers.

I tried several drivers (latest creative, beta creative, daniel_k, and recently "PAX PCI Audigy OS V6.25") but nothing seems to work.
When playing dvd in 5.1 i get sound of all speakers indeed but when playing upmixxed stereo signals with winamp and AndrewlabsATSurroundProcessor or via MPC with ac3filter everything is played through front speakers.

My system specs:
AMD x2 5200+
8 gb ram
msi m2n vm dvi
windows xp x64

Maybe you have an idea what i could try to solve this.

Thx
mOe

What's are the make and model of the speakers? My guess is that you speakers can only play 5.1 with audio encoded with Dolby Digital.

Re: 2 Issues with Audigy 2

Hi
yes i used drivercleaner inbetween the driver changes.

My Speakers are Teufel Concept E Magnum.

In Vista and with onboard sound playback of upmixxed stereo is working flawlessly.

Re: 2 Issues with Audigy 2

The only way to get 5.1 out of winamp with your audigy 2 and XP is to use an output plug-in like KB 5 channel Output. On winamp.com just go to plugins and select output in the plugin categories to find it.

Re: 2 Issues with Audigy 2

Hello. Not sure if this is the place to post this particular problem, but it seems to be along the same lines. I'm having an issue with my Audigy 2 as well.

I recently bought it cause I thought it would enhance my recording studio, and found that when using it with Cool Edit Pro 2 or Adobe Audition 3, it seems to overlap the tracks.

For example, when I have a backbeat in the first track, and I want to record guitar in the second track, the beat from the first track is 'audible' in the second track. It's as if I had a microphone next to the backbeat speaker while recording - though I'm directly in 'line in' and there are no mics. It also happens while using the metronome - the beat is recorded. This never happened before using Audigy. Am I missing something, or have I overlooked a setting option?

Any advice is appreciated.
